The Van Gogh Museum has dismissed claims that a "newly-discovered" notebook of 65 ink drawings was created by the Dutch artist.

French publishers Le Seuil made the announcement at a press conference in Paris, saying Vincent van Gogh was believed to have created the pictures in the accounts book of a hotel he was staying at in the city of Arles.

They did not show the original drawings, but said a book of reproductions - titled Vincent van Gogh, The Fog of Arles: The Rediscovered Sketchbook - would be published in France, the US, Japan, Britain, Germany and the Netherlands on Thursday....
