Crafty Russian strongman Vladimir Putin figured out a way to guarantee that he wins re-election next year — by banning his chief rival from running.
The Central Election Commission decided unanimously that the anti-corruption crusader Alexei Navalny can’t run for president, prompting him to call for a boycott of the vote.
Navalny was barred from running for office because of a conviction in a fraud case which has been viewed as political retribution.
