Held on the days of March 10th through March 13 at the Ritz Carlton on Amelia Island in Florida, the 21st Concours d'Elegance has evolved into the premier antique and classic car show on the east coast of the United States. Situated thirty miles from the city of Jacksonville on the northern border of the state of Florida, the event attracts tens of thousands of people to the event literally overloading the hotels in the area. "We are booked up all the way into Georgia" was one line this writer heard from one hotel reception clerk. Why would so many come to an otherwise overlooked corner of the state? Looking at these photos, most readers will want to book their reservations now to see the next show in person. It is a lightly populated corner of Florida, and hotels book out very quickly.
The auction market for these kind of Porsches remain strong with a reported auction net of some $60 million being reported by Gooding whose sale was held on March 11th. A number of the cars consigned to the sale were owned by comedian actor Jerry Seinfeld. Individual lot results may be found here, Gooding Car Auction Results.
