There’s a new partner at Mnuchin Gallery– none other than Michael McGinnis, the former president of Phillips auction house. McGinnis had been with Phillips for 16 years, and its president from July until 30 November 2015. Edward Dolman, who came from Christie’s, was appointed in 2014 as Phillips new CEO, with the idea of turning Phillips around. With him come a number of former colleagues from Christies, and a renewed focus on 20th century art and design.
Mr. McGinnis will join Bob Mnuchin and Sukanya Rajaratnam in New York, starting 1 March.
Further West, the Art institute of Chicago named James Rondeau as its new Director. Mr. Rondeau has worked at the Art institute for more than 15 years, lately as Chairman and curator of modern and contemporary art, and succeeds Douglas Druick, Mr. Rondeau was instrumental in the largest donation in the Institute’s history, the 2015 gift of a substantial number of works from collectors Stefan Edlis and Gael Neeson.
